  • Magdalen Nabb
    died on August 18, 2007, in Florence, Italy.
    Best known to mystery readers for her Marshal Guarnacia series,
    she was also a best-selling children's author.
    Her last book, Vita Nuova, will be published in 2008.

    On October 6th, 2004, at the Bouchercon (World Mystery Convention) in Toronto,
    Val McDermid was awarded the Barry for Best British Crime Novel for
    The Distant Echo.

    The Barry is awarded by the readers of Deadly Pleasures magazine.
