Mini Review: A Glimpse of Evil by Victoria Laurie

Many of you know that I'm a big fan of Victoria Laurie, particularly of her 'Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye' series. Needless to say, I was thrilled when home for the last long weekend that the new book A GLIMPSE OF EVIL had just been delivered (I got to receive it, even). The book picks up where we last left Abby and her honey Dutch, on their way to Austin, Texas to start their new jobs as members of that city's new FBI office solving cold cases. Abby has to try and convince her new co-workers that her talents are real, which is easier said than done. Abby's best friend Candice Fusco has also moved to Austin, so the psychic and the PI find themselves a case to solve and get into a bunch of scrapes while doing it.

I find these books soothing in the same way that I find rerun sitcoms soothing. I know the characters, I'm interested in their problems, and I'm reasonably sure I'm going to end up with a happy ending. I'm also finding myself intrigued by psychics generally, and Victoria Laurie specifically. She offers readings over the phone, and I have to admit I'm sorely tempted (link here, if you're interested). Think I can expense it?
