Review: The Poison Door by Steve Malley

We had a customer in the store last week looking for some paperbacks to keep him going on the flight to New Zealand. The chat was how New Zealand was supposed to be like British Columbia was 50 years ago. Well…after reading Steve Malley’s The Poison Door, I am not so sure. This fast paced thriller centers  around the drug trade in Christchurch. I enjoyed the book. I was taken with the main character, a female police officer called Sarah Crane.  The side issues of prostitution and drug/alcohol abuse among the aboriginal population certainly rang true to someone who lives in Winnipeg,  a city with similar problems. The book was a little violent for my taste, but as it is described as a noir thriller, I could not complain. A good read.

(THE POISON DOOR will be available for purchase in ebook format on Amazon.ca)
