New Feature - Sleepers

In the course of our reorganization we were again reminded of the large number of perfectly readable authors on our used shelves whose books, for one reason or another, are no longer in demand. Most of these authors were accumulating in the back of the store, although a number were shelved in the front as well. One characteristic of almost all of these dormant authors – we have come to call them “sleepers” – is the fact that they are no longer writing or being published, which seems to be the main way that they go out of popularity. “Out of sight, out of mind” works for crime fiction as well as in many other fields. In some attempt to encourage customers to try some of these sleepers, we are introducing a new feature on our web site. It will be called “Sleepers of the Month.” Each month we will introduce readers to two of these relatively neglected authors, in each case those with extensive back lists on our shelves, in the hopes that some of you who are looking for new authors will give them a try.  The piece will also be posted in the store. The first piece will be posted on February 6th.
