A mystery set in Winnipeg and a fun read to boot. C.C. Benison previously set his books in England with Jane Bee and the Queen. Death In Cold Type begins with the murder of Michael Rossiter, respected philanthropist and scion of an old Winnipeg newspaper family. The setting is Crescentwood's old boy network and Leo Fabian is the reporter assigned to the case. The cast of characters is colorful, starting with Michael's first love and recently divorced Stevie Lord, his narcissistic sister Merritt Parrish and editor Guy Clark, to name a few. The story takes you on many paths and you feel you know the characters in the book. I really enjoyed this latest book of C.C. Benison and intend to give it as a Christmas gift to all the ex-Winnipeggers I know, and play the game "do you know who this character is?" I thought it was very clever of C.C. Benison to have a character in the book called Doug Whiteway. Who would have thought that Doug Whiteway worked for the Winnipeg Citizen? A must read for Winnipeg's mystery lovers.
