The Trojan Dog is written by Dorothy Johnston, an Australian writer whose earlier novels were short-listed for the Miles Franklin Award. The award is Australia's first and most prestigious literary award. Any fan of Gail Bowen will really enjoy this book. I would say she's Australia's Gail Bowen. Her protagonist is Sandra Mahoney. Sandra is hired by an old friend of her mother's. Shortly after she is hired her boss Rae Evans is accused of computer fraud. Sandra is convinced that the charges are false. The story takes many twists and turns and is convincingly realistic as Sandra is a single parent trying to juggle a family life and an estranged husband and still solve a crime. This is the first mystery that Dorothy Johnston has written.
