What a discovery this author is! This book is his first and I would consider The Hundredth Man to be a police thriller. The story is dark, with a serial killer who leaves victims without a head. I know that seems quite grim, but the characters in the book are not dark and I like the two police officers who are the PSIT team (Psychopathological and Sociopathological Investigative Team). Some members of the police force call it the Piss-it team.

Detective Ryder and Detective Nautilus make up the PSIT team. The story deals with a serial killer but has many subplots which add greatly to the story. It deals with power struggles in the police force. Ryder develops a relationship with a forensic pathologist with a problem.

Nautilus and Ryder struggle with their own relationship and the tale takes many twists and turns. This book was hard to put down and I read over two evenings. I look forward to his next book.
